After a decade of serving as Tennessee State Universityβs first female president, Glenda Glover has announced her plans to retire. On Monday, during a news conference, Glover announced that she will be stepping down from her position at the end of the spring 2024 semester. βServing as president of Tennessee State University has been the honor of a lifetime,β Glover said. βThis is where I got my start. I came to Tennessee State University, graduated in 1974. From 1974 to 2024, a 50-year blessing. And now itβs only appropriate that I announce my retirement from the place that gave me my start.β Glover has received many accolades during her reign as TSUβs president, including, the Thurgood Marshall College Fund Education Leadership Award for 2018 HBCU President of the Year, and in 2022, she was appointed as Vice Chair of the Presidentβs Board of Advisors on Historically Black Colleges and Universities by President Joe Biden.
